Fresh Bamboo

We have a beautiful almost 5 feet long bamboo in a 1 1 / 2 foot vase. I noticed that the plant begins to sag. I changed the water, as I do every Saturday, and water AWFUL! I rinsed my usual way - run water through it fresh for 8-10 minutes - and it still did not help. The next day I rechecked it still smell. If you're familiar with this issue, I would like to hear your suggestions. Thank you!
you'll need too cut down bamboo. I assume that I is not rooted, but used as decoration, as a cut flower? If you leave the vessel you see or feel some ground to the bottom of the bamboo. this is the part that must be cut. You have to cut into "good wood" so to speak. then immediately place in fresh water, back in the vase. You should put a tablespoon of bleach linens in the vase every time you change you water if you do not intend to change it once a week. Otherwise, skip bleach and just change the water every 3 days. Either way you'll need to take the bamboo when you fill the vase .. This will ensure that the vessel is clear of bacteria and only change if the water once a week I would go further and wipe the bottom of the bamboo was sitting in water to remove any bacteria out of it before put in a clean vase. Wow! How can plant such a simple, elegant, relaxing zen giving cause such disorders.
