Scentstories Disc Scent

I just purchased a febreeze scentstories machine. I feel like such an idiot. Should this disc just pop right in and stay down even with the lid open. On the instructions number 2 says remove plastic tab. I'm not sure where the plastic tab is. Everything on the disc looks as it should. I did remove some tab on the bottom which was hard to get off. Maybe I wasn't supposed to, but thats the only tab I seen. It works perfectly but when it rotates to the next scent it makes this small popping sound like maybe I haven't done something right. Is this sound normal or should it turn very quietly. I hope someone can help me.
