Unscented Base
Posted on Wednesday, March 17th, 2010 at 8:37 pmCan I use dried flowers to make my own diffuser oil?
I've been looking into making my own oil for use in a bottle and reed diffuser, and am wondering if instead of adding essential oils mixed with the base diffuser oil, I can simple add fragrant dried flowers (ie: lavender) to soak in the oil. I've often heard of perfumes being made with flowers soaked in unscented oil for a few weeks, but am wondering if the same concept can be applied to oils for diffusers.
I can't say for sure but I don't see why it wouldn't work. The oil won't have any scent before soaking though, so if you want it to smell make sure to soak the lavender in the oil for at least a couple weeks first, maybe adding more with time to increase the scent. It should look really nice in a glass diffuser jar.
