Works Vanilla Coconut

I am going to make coconut cream pie but the recipe calls for vanilla extract & coconut extract
which in retrospect is fine ..more coconut flavor BUT!
I went to my local grocery store and they only seemed to have imitation!! flavored.. one little bottle for $4.00!!!
If I'm going to spend that money I want at least Pure Coconut extract.
Anyways I have pure almond extract will that work?
I also have sweetened flake coconut if I added water to it and reduced it a little can I use that liquid?
It may be silly but hey I'm just thinking out loud hear.

You could try simmering flake coconut in milk/cream in your recipe, then straining it out and using the milk as necessary. The flavors you are looking for are fat-soluble, not water-soluble, so you will get a stronger coconut flavor using milk instead of water.
If you want a better overall flavor you should find a recipe that uses coconut milk. You will never look back! I've linked one below that I wrote myself.
